Family catamaran trip – Fréjus & French Riviera, suitable for all ages
Are you planning your holidays in Fréjus or on the French Riviera and looking for a sea activity suitable for the whole family — including children? Our catamaran is perfect for you.
Stable, spacious, and seasick: catamarans are by far the best boats for family outings. On board, children have plenty of space, a trampoline above the water, coves for swimming, and a crew that welcomes them like budding sailors. Parents have a drink in hand and a horizon that reminds them why they came to the French Riviera for their holiday.
From the port of Fréjus, we offer half-day family trips to the Esterel coves: maximum 22 passengers, all-inclusive, professional skipper. No sailing experience required, no paperwork — just the sea, the sun, and your happy children.
Your parenting questions — our honest answers
🌊 Is my child at risk of getting seasick?
This is THE question everyone asks, and that's precisely why a catamaran is the ideal choice for families. Unlike a sailboat or motorboat, a catamaran has two parallel hulls that absorb the movement of the sea. Rolling is virtually nonexistent, even in slightly rough seas. Over hundreds of outings, cases of seasickness in children are extremely rare and always occur in choppy seas, in which case we stay close to shore. If your child is very prone to seasickness, bring preventative medication as a precaution.
🦺 Is it dangerous for small children?
Safety is our top priority. Our catamaran is equipped with certified life jackets for all sizes, including toddlers. Our skipper is STCW certified (international standard) and trained in maritime first aid. The deck areas are secured, and we maintain constant supervision during swimming. We welcome children from a very young age; please contact us for babies and children under 3 so we can make the necessary arrangements.
🏊 My child can't swim yet — can they still come?
Yes, of course. You don't need to know how to swim to come aboard. Life jackets are available for everyone, including for swimming in the sea. We choose our anchorages based on the depth and calmness of the water; in rough seas, we stay in sheltered coves. Children who can't yet swim love sitting on the floating beach or exploring from the side of the catamaran with a mask and snorkel.
⏱️ How long does the outing last, will my child be able to manage?
Our most suitable family outing is the half-day Calanques de l'Estérel trip (3 hours). This is the ideal duration for children: long enough to see spectacular coves and swim, but without too much time spent on the boat. For full-day trips (8 hours), we recommend that parents assess their children's tolerance. In practice, most children over 6 years old enjoy the full-day trips very much; the program is well-paced and there's always something to explore.
🚿 Are there toilets and facilities on board?
Yes. Our catamaran is fully equipped: marine toilet, deck shower for rinsing off after swimming, shaded area with benches, sunbeds, and forward nets. Cold drinks are always available. If your child needs a quiet moment, a covered area is accessible out of the sun. Remember to bring sunscreen (biodegradable preferred), a hat, and a towel.

Ce que les enfants adorent à bord du catamaran
After hundreds of family outings, here's what children consistently mention as their favorite part of their vacation:
Which catamaran trip should you choose depending on the age of your children?
Chaque tranche d'âge vit l'expérience catamaran à sa façon. Voici nos recommandations :
0-3 years: Babies and toddlers
Contact us before booking. Toddlers are welcome, but the outing will be organized differently (shaded sunset, bottle feeding on board, adjusted duration). We have welcomed babies as young as 6 months old — it all depends on organization and the weather.
→ Recommended option: Half-day Calanques (3 hours) — calm morning
3-6 years: Toddlers
At this age, wonder is immediate and complete. The sea, the fish, the net above the water—everything is new. Opt for morning outings (when the sea is calmer) and half-day trips (3 hours max). Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a small snack if your child eats frequently.
→ Recommended option: Half-day Calanques tour (3 hours) — departure 9am
6-12 years: Children
This is the ideal age for catamaran sailing. They're old enough to enjoy paddleboarding, mask and snorkel, and trampoline, yet curious enough to follow the skipper and ask questions about sailing. A half-day is perfect, and a full day is possible if your child is comfortable outdoors.
→ Recommended formula: Half-day Calanques (3 hours) or Full day 3 Caps (8 hours)
Ages 12 and up: Teenagers
Teenagers love catamarans — they can participate in maneuvers with the skipper if they wish, dive from the deck, or go paddleboarding on their own in the cove. Independence on board is their thing. All packages are suitable for them.
→ Recommended formula: All formulas or Day 3 Capes (8 hours)

Frequently Asked Questions – Family Catamaran Trip in Fréjus
1) From what age can one embark on the catamaran?
We welcome children from a very young age. For babies and children under 3, please contact us before booking so we can adapt the arrangements (covered space, duration, equipment). For children 3 and older, all half-day options are suitable. A full day (8 hours) is recommended for children 6 and older.
2) My child often gets seasick in the car — will he/she get sick on a catamaran?
The catamaran is the most stable boat available. Thanks to its two hulls, rolling is virtually nonexistent—very different from a motorboat or sailboat. In the vast majority of cases, children prone to car sickness cope very well with catamaran outings. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor about a preventative anti-nausea medication in tablet or patch form.
3) Does my child need to know how to swim?
No. You don't need to know how to swim to come aboard. Approved life jackets are available in all sizes, including for swimming. We anchor in calm, shallow coves close to shore, and our crew is always on duty while you're swimming.
4) Is there shade on board for children sensitive to the sun?
Yes. Our catamaran has a covered area with bench seating, always accessible and shaded. For young children or those with sensitive skin, this space offers a cool respite between swims. However, please remember to bring a hat and sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50.
5) What is the best time for a family outing to Fréjus?
June and September are our favorite times for families: the sea is warm (22-26°C), the coves are less crowded than in the height of summer, and the morning excursions benefit from very calm seas. In July and August, book 3 to 4 weeks in advance—the morning family excursions fill up quickly.
6) Is it possible to eat on board?
Yes. Cold drinks are included in all packages. For full-day trips (3 Capes, 8 hours), a picnic lunch is served on board. For half-day trips (3 hours), you can bring your own picnic lunch—we provide a table area on deck. For the Brunch at Sea package, a full menu is served on board in the coves.
